Welcome to Casa di Langa

Casa di Langa opened in 2021 on a 42-hectare estate of woodland, vineyards and hazelnut groves. It belongs to the Krause Group, which also owns the nearby Vietti and Enrico Serafino wineries.

Each of the 39 rooms and suites has a private terrace or garden, looking over the orchard, the hills or the vineyards towards the castle of Serralunga d'Alba. Classic Rooms measure 33 to 36 m². The largest, the Alta Langa Suite, has 63 m² and a 31 m² terrace for up to 4 guests.

The restaurant, Fàula, cooks Piedmontese dishes with produce from the kitchen garden and won a Gambero Rosso prize for the best vegetarian offering. Herbs and flowers from the garden also go into the cocktails at Sorì and the treatments at the Lelòse Spa, which has a Finnish sauna and a jacuzzi. The heated infinity pool faces the Alps.

From October, a trifulau (a local truffle hunter) and his Lagotto dogs lead guests through the estate's woods on the white truffle hunt. The hotel also runs cooking classes and wine tastings, and a 2.8 km trail crosses the estate.

The estate lies in Cerretto Langhe, in the Alta Langa, on the edge of the vineyard landscapes of Langhe-Roero and Monferrato, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Barolo is about 25 minutes away by road, and Alba, home to the International White Truffle Fair every autumn, about 20 km.

Why it's a Positive Escape

Set partly into an Alta Langa hillside, a hotel heated and cooled by geothermal energy, whose kitchen garden feeds the restaurant.

Energy

  • Geothermal heating and cooling

a boiler fired with wood pellets heats the water, and the kitchen cooks on induction

  • Solar and certified renewable electricity

solar panels produced about 20% of the electricity in 2025, and the rest was bought from certified renewable sources

Food

  • A 3,000 m² kitchen garden

with a greenhouse. The hotel reports that more than 90% of the 2024 harvest was used fresh in the restaurant

  • A tasting menu of garden vegetables

Flavours of the Garden, one of Fàula's tasting menus, is built entirely on the garden's produce

Waste

  • All waste recycled, 23% less in 2024

the hotel reports cuts of 55% in metal, 40% in glass and 32% in paper. Guest rooms are plastic-free

  • Kitchen scraps composted on the estate

the compost covers 15% of the estate's soil needs, and fallen branches are chipped into mulch

Materials & Construction

  • Built into the hillside

the building sits partly inside the slope, so the ground helps regulate indoor temperatures

  • Local stone and FSC-certified wood

with handmade mattresses of natural fibres. The outdoor fitness area is built from recycled materials

  • A prize for sustainable architecture

honourable mention at the Fassa Bortolo International Prize for Sustainable Architecture in 2023

Wildlife

  • Over 20 hectares of managed woodland

kept for biodiversity, with areas set aside for truffles and beehives along the walking trail

  • An orchard of old fruit varieties

grown with mulch and flowering plants for pollinators

Transport

  • 14 charging points for electric cars

and the service vehicles, tractor included, are electric. Guests can rent e-bikes to explore the hills

Transparency

  • Green Globe certified

an international certification for sustainable tourism, awarded after an independent audit on site

  • Renewable electricity certificate published

the 2025 Guarantees of Origin statement for the hotel's grid electricity is on its website

  • Figures published by the owner group

the Krause Group publishes the hotel's energy mix, waste and water figures and its carbon footprint
