Welcome to TreeHouse Villas Koh Yao
TreeHouse Villas is Travelife certified, an independent sustainability audit renewed every two years, and publishes a report that sets its targets beside what it actually achieved. The forest around the villas is home to a colony of Oriental Pied Hornbills, a near-threatened species. Native trees go in every month to keep that habitat intact, and the resort built a hornbill shelter with the island community.
31 villas in three categories, all adults only. The signature TreeHouse Villa is a 100 m² duplex you reach over a suspension bridge. The bedroom and its balcony are upstairs and air-conditioned, the ground level is open to the forest, with a private plunge pool, a bar and a double swing. The Beachfront Pool Villa trades the height for the sand: one level, 110 m², a 7-metre infinity pool at the edge of the beach. Biggest of the three is the Hilltop Pool Villa, 390 m² on two floors with three bedrooms, a kitchen and a 12-metre infinity pool. Every villa has a hammock bathtub, a capsule coffee machine and a teakwood ceiling fan.
Roots serves Thai and Western dishes from the organic garden and from growers in southern Thailand. Al Fresco is Italian on the sand, with a wood-fired oven, and Sundowners is the beach bar.
The resort sits at the north tip of Koh Yao Noi, an island in the middle of Phang Nga Bay, halfway between Phuket and Krabi. 400 metres of beach run below the villas. Limestone karsts break the water offshore and forested hills close it in behind. The island lives off rubber and rice.

Good to know
Adults only, from 16 years old.
Koh Yao Noi is a traditional Muslim island. The resort suggests covering up away from the beach and pool, and keeping alcohol to licensed venues.
Why it's a Positive Escape
An adults-only resort at the north tip of Koh Yao Noi, with villas in the forest above the beach, and a hornbill colony that decided to stay.
Travel mindfully
The island is reached by boat only. From Phuket, the public ferry cuts the footprint of the crossing against a private speedboat, and takes no longer.
Getting there
Ferry terminal · 30 min
Bang Rong Pier (Phuket)
Public boats cross to Manoh Pier on Koh Yao Noi through the day, about 30 minutes by shared speedboat or 1 hour by longtail. From Manoh it is 26 minutes by road to the resort.
Boat transfer · 30 min
Tha Len Pier (Krabi)
The Krabi-side crossing, 30 minutes by boat to the resort. Nothing sails after dark, so a late arrival means a night on the mainland.
Boat transfer · 30 min
Nopparat Thara Pier (Ao Nang)
Speedboats run from the Ao Nang beaches to Manoh Pier, useful if you are coming from Railay or Krabi town rather than an airport.
Airport · 35 km
Phuket International Airport (HKT)
The resort runs a minivan to Phuket Yacht Haven Marina, about 20 minutes, then its own speedboat at fixed departure times.
Airport · 39 km
Krabi International Airport (KBV)
The resort runs a minivan to Tha Len Pier, about 50 minutes, then the boat across.
