The Ijo restaurant sits in an open-air Javanese Joglo pavilion, reserved for guests. A deck with daybeds surrounds the communal outdoor pool. Daily yoga and cooking classes are arranged from the property.

Why it's a Positive Escape
Six adults-only villas in Canggu, SLH Considerate Collection and 2025 SLH Resort Hotel of the Year.
Desa Hay opened in 2021 in Tumbak Bayuh, a quiet neighbourhood just north of the Canggu coastline, on the calmer belt of South Bali. The Canadian Kowaleski family commissioned Arkana Architects of Bali, with Indonesian contractors and a local landscape team.
SLH brought it into the Considerate Collection in 2023 and named it Resort Hotel of the Year at the 2025 SLH Awards in Tokyo. The property funds the Desa Hay Scholarship Fund, which covers the full education, from pre-school through high school, of all 25 children at the Chloe Orphans Bali orphanage.

Travel mindfully
Canggu sits under heavy tourist pressure. Think about your impact on the local environment and community before booking, and prefer shoulder seasons or longer stays.
